Project Update (Early August): During the past couple months you have most likely noticed some ongoing improvements along the East Beltline. This project is intended to make Calvary more open and inviting to those who drive by, and to allow us to communicate with a new sign. Some have asked if this work is related to the prayer garden. The answer is no; the prayer garden is still being developed and is a separate project.

The front entrance construction is getting closer to completion. You will note that we have new trees and some large accent rocks this week, along with new underground irrigation. The new sign is also beginning to take shape and in the next week we will have additional bushes and perennials. Our goal is to have the landscape completed and grass seed down before Labor Day and to have the sign completed shortly after Labor Day.

Background Information on the Project: Our purposes are to better reach the 54,000+ people who drive by Calvary each day with the love of Christ and to create a welcoming entrance so that they will feel free to join us. We are asking God to use this to help us reach the people He wants us to reach, as Christ’s Church in this place. Due to current regulations, we are no longer able to advertise at our front entrance. A message center would enable us to regain this opportunity.

Our approval from the Planning Commission, for this project, ends in August. Without these exceptions to current requirements, our ability to construct the sign we wish to will be prohibited. We want to make sure we complete the project within this timing, and hold on to these approvals.

Funding for this project is made possible through reserves that were set aside for capital improvements. We are grateful that these funds have been set aside and that God has graciously prepared us for this time.

The new sign (pictured left) is much larger and it's message center will allow for three lines of text. This gives us the ability to share Scripture, event details and other information with the many cars that travel past our entrance each day.
